When to celebrate?
Celebrating on the 256th day of the year. Usually programmer day is on September 13th, but on the leap year it is on September 12th.
Why the 256th day?
The number 256 (28) was chosen because it is the number of distinct values that can be represented with an eight-bit byte, a value well-known to programmers.
What are the traditions?
Make jokes, foolery, non-traditional programs writing, programming with unusual programming languages, playing computer games, tournaments, playing with old computers, and so on. Do what you aren't doing as usual.
